“Get to Know Me” challenge

Name

Sirakorn Lamyai. Sirakorn, when literally translated, means “heads and hands”. The name was derived from my former name “Siwakorn” (the hands of God Shiwa from Hinduism) before changed to “match” my birthday.

Frustrations about my name is that many people spell my first name without “Sara-Aa” (as ศิรกร) and my last name with “Mai-malai” (ลำไย — a correct way of spelling “Lamyai” if you treated as a fruit’s name).

City that you live in

Bangkok, Thailand. While relatively closed to attractions and down town areas, my home at Nakhon Pathom is much more closed to a music venue I loved to take a visit.

What do most people not know about you?

I’m shy. Really shy. Two hours on giving a lecture on my research interests? No problem. Ten minutes with a girl I have a crush on? Better to give that lecture twice.

There’s something you don’t wanna read down here, but it’s really something people don’t know much:

I love women. I do really love them, loving on how caring and how well-nature they are. Loving on how everything under their eyes looked so beautiful. I admire women so much that sometimes I felt of desiring to be one of them. (Of which, if I really could be a women, I’d still get into a relationship with another woman, yay!)

What do most people know you for?

To be honest, I don’t know. I think people recognise me as a nettlesome and demanding guy. (I do feel like that.) Some say I’m close to perfectionism, but in reality, I’m so far from being described like that.

Wait, If there’s something my close friends recognise about me, I’m certain all of them will know me as a guy who could never overcome his ex-GFs or ex-crush. 😉

Hobbies

I play Piano, but after moving to my dorm I have less chance to practice. My fingers now feel like old mechanic joints, rusty and not greased properly. I consider attending music events as my hobby too.

I collect pens, from the most cheapest ones to those luxury branded, and looking forward to “drive myself” in this world of writing instruments.

What are your passions?

To be recognised in some particular way.

Once in an interview, Cherprang was asked if she preferred to be recognised as a talented girl or as a good and nice girl. This question stuck in my head since then, and I’m still wondered about how I would be recognised.

Maybe as a talented, skillful man? While I’m not really certain that I’m kinda an “expert” in my field or not, I’m pretty sure that people around me will know how much I tried to be nice with them, so being recognised as a tanlented guy would satisfy my successfulness both in my career and on how I treat others.

But wait, if I’m really trying hard to be nice to the others, then I should expect people to recognise me as a nice guy then?

What do you search for in a significant other?

Intelligence, being able to make decisions, and kindness.

Mar, my ex-crush is a perfect girl in all the mentioned criteria. She shows her intelligence in our conversation, never reluctant on what we’re going to eat or where we’re taking a visit next on our date.

Kindness, however, is what I searched for the most. I found kindness in all the people who I’ve fallen in love in. I love the feeling when I tried not to cry after someone express their care and understandings on me.

What are you most proud of?

I think I’m going to have a pretty good future, especially if I’m trying on things harder.

Also I dare to claim I’m an extremist in love. Be my girl and all my world will be yours. (And that’s the reason why I’m so desperate, crying days and nights after I broke up with someone).

When was the last time you had a significant conversation with someone you love?

Friends count, right? Then in the New Age Informatics class. Expressing care on the others is a significant conversation for me, and yes, I do really care about her.

And yes, if you say you loved sleeping, then I don’t expected to see your text before 12, and the first message I expected to read is “Holy shit I tried this super fast deep-sleep method and it’s great!” or something like that.

*wipes* This is hard. I tried my best to explore gastronomic world, and I think it’s still too fast to judge my favourite food. Each types and generations of cuisines have its strong points, of which all of them could not be ranked.

But if the question is what do I really wanna eat right now, then it’s going to be Khao Shae and a good Tonkatsu.

Favorite drink

Coffee and tea, because I don’t usually drink any other drinks (except drinking water).

A Ronnefeldt’s Darjeeling is going to be a good choice.

What is the best birthday gift you have ever received?

Two Penguin? dolls from the Sumikko Gurashi series, not because of I loved the doll, but because of how I loved the people who gave me.

I don’t usually get birthday gifts, and that’s a little sad fact worth mentioning here.

Are you optimistic or pessimistic?

I am a negate of how people around me perceives the current situation.

Throwing a party because everything is going fine? Screw that, I’m planning for the worst-case scenario. Everything is on fire and we’re all fucked up? Hey, but at lease we’re doing well here…

Do you sleep during class?

Yes.

What is the most expensive thing you own?

My laptop at 37,990 THB.

What is the cheapest yet most useful thing you own?

I’d say my Deuter Gigant backpack (~3,000 THB). Although not cheap comparing to other backpacks, I bet people’s gonna be amazed on how my bad boy hold 32 litres of stuffs.

You never realise how a good backpack will ease you daily life when you didn’t have ones.

How many times a day on average do you check your phone?

Today I unlock my phone for 94 times, while the one-week average is around 150 unlocks per day.

Longer the distant, higher loss of the signal.

Okay, to be serious. I broke up with my ex because we’re facing the long distant relationship. I’m (quite) certain I am still fine despite lacking all those physical intimacy, display of affection, or even time to spend together.

I just believe one day everything’s going to be worthwhile. Yup. 🙂

What is your definition of success?

Being recognised. You could substitute “successful” with “widely recognised” and “unsuccessful” with “not recognised”

From your judgement you might be performing something really well, but among the thousand eyes, there might be some with higher standards comparing to yours.

Last week. I do read for fun.

Any guilty pleasures?

I do really love Malicious Compliance. Hoped to revenge someone in this fashionable way.

What is one thing you would like to change about yourself?

I’m too addicted to mobile phones.

I’ve since the beginning of the year turned on Digital Wellbeing on my phone, and set the time limit for Facebook and Twitter to 45 minutes (per app). Hope this helped.

What do you search for in a friend?

A true understanding and some sympathy for me on my hard times.

How many times have you said “I love you” in the past month?

A couple times, to my mum and dad.

Where did you last go other than your room/home?

Siam (Downtown district).

Why do bad things happen to good people?

Bad things happened to bad people too but people didn’t care as people tends to believe it’s because of karma.

Also, some people will never be recognised on how good is he to the others if there’s no some bad news that make people feel sympathy for him.

In your opinion, what hurts more? Being left out or being stabbed in the eye?

Being stabbed in the eye. I understand that I can’t be part of everything as there are more situations and constraints to be considered than how close we were.

Zero. Although I do like green, it doesn’t match me on my body well.

Neither like nor dislike.

What’s the difference between loving and liking someone?

Liking someone is willing to be with her because of her parts that you like. Loving someone is willing to be with her despite of her parts you don’t like.

Personal Studying Room, Library of Kasetsart University. (Room No. 15 is preferred.)

• Attending a class

List 3 things you enjoy doing alone.

• Having a meal
  • Seriously, I don’t really having a meal as groups. The larger the group were, the less I’m happy with the meal.
  • There’re some reasons why you should dine in group (for example, being able to order different types of dishes and share them all, therefore exploring your palette), but for an ordinary meal I’d really preferred to have it alone.
• Reading
  • I do enjoy studying alone too, even it conflicts with the fact that I do lead my friends on the exam studying weeks. The main reason behind this is to cross-check my knowledge, and it really worked.
• Relaxing in downtown
  • I mean, being nostalgic in the downtown.

Do you believe world peace will ever exist?

No, as long as the world is a zero-sum game.

Do you have any allergies?

I had mild allergies to pollen.

When was the last time you cussed at someone?

I cussed and swear a lot, but to myself. Couldn’t remember the last time I cussed at someone.

What was the last promise you made?

Does “I’ll be here if you want me to” counts? I don’t promise much to my friends, but that’s what I promise (at least to myself if they didn’t accept it) to some of my best friends.

When I do say that, I literally mean something like that. If you’re going to commit suicide and the only way to stop you is to fly across all the oceans to give you a single hug, I’ll do.

During my relationship with Mar I do have a spare savings sufficient for a short trip to Japan. In case she’s self-harming and I’m the only one who could stop her, it’s going to be me flying the earliest flight I can book.

What was your last dream about?

How a cashier in 7-11 managed to enter the wrong promo code for me, and that I have to pay 1 THB more for my groceries.

If you won a trip to Hawaii and you could take 5 people with you, who would those 5 people be?

If it’s a family trip then it’s gonna be my dad, mum, brother, my auntie and her son.

If it’s a friends trip then Kai, Ryolen, Kittiya, …how about the two others? (I think the hardest part in this question is not about picking the very first person to go with you, but the very last).

Let the other two be some complete strangers so that I could “sell” him the trip and use it to semd with my girl friends!

What is your favorite medium of art? (Music, dance, painting, etc.)

Music, symphony orchestra band to be precise.

I didn’t know much about it, and my knowledge regarding musical theory had been faded since I stopped taking piano course. However I appreciate the band as how such a variety of instruments could blend into one masterpiece that have been appraised for decades.

When was the last time somebody complimented you?

Didn’t remembered that, but I think the last time is that Pac tells I’m publicly well-behaved.

If you switched bodies with someone, how would you recognize yourself?

As a tidy man perhaps? I like wearing shirt because it’s tidy, and I hoped that the soul inside my body would enjoy doing it so.

To the one who switches the body with me: Please always iron your shirt. Polish leather shoes. Check for a collection of the pen and don’t forget to put one that matches in your pocket. Stay neat.

And please, if the one who’s switched the body with me is Kai, then please don’t spend much on my credit cards. Use only the JCB card as my father will get the bill for the SCB card.

Do you consider yourself mature?

I have mature sides where I know that I could never do anything silly in such a situation. I also have a “childish” side where EVERTHING IS A PLAYGROUND YAY \( ^[]^)/

So the answer is yes if I needed to be.

How many days in your life do you think you have wasted on tumblr?

2-3 months maybe? My blog used to be there but I’ve terminated my account after moving to a self-hosted WordPress.

What is your greatest accomplishment?

Okay, seriously, I don’t know.

• I think being accepted to study at Dept. of Computer Engineering, Kasetsart U. is one of the achievements with the highest impact.
• An internship at VISTEC opens my perspective on the research world and considered an important leap for me.
• Seducing Trying to be submissive Getting in a relationship with Mar and being an “uke” in our relationship is something I considered proud of.

What are your goals for life?

Just to have a stably high income and a good family.

What do you think your soulmate is doing right now?

Either on a subway or choosing for her books in a bookstore.

I never imagined of my SO in a special way, never imagined that we’re in a prom together, dancing under the bright spotlight. I always imagine being with my SO in a bookstore, standing near each other on the subway, or any other “nothing special” moment. (Does attending an orchestra counts? Seemed so normal for me but seemed not really for the others.)

Seeing how beauty someone is when she’s doing some very ordinary things is a flag that I’m started to liking her.
